Dr. Karl
Dr. Karl Shao is a graduate of the Oregon Health and Sciences University School of Dentistry and completed his undergraduate at the University of Washington in Seattle. He was born in China and moved to Guam at the age of six. From there, he made a pit stop in Arizona before finally moving to Oregon, which he now calls his home. Dr. Shao approaches dentistry from both an aesthetic and functional standpoint. He believes that a great smile is a gateway to laughter and happiness, while great oral health is the gateway to your overall health and well-being. His favorite part about dentistry is getting to know his patients and helping them with the most ideal and appropriate treatments.

Dental Implant FAQs
You can get dental implants to replace all of your teeth. However, most patients find it more financially feasible to have one implant that supports a bridge of several teeth or even full denture arches.
Even though most patients are good candidates for Dental Implants in Portland, some patients may have medical concerns that would prevent them from properly healing after the procedure. For example, individuals with immune system disorders or diabetes may not be the best candidates.
With the proper care and oral hygiene habits, dental implants can last a lifetime. However, the crowns, bridges, or dentures mounted on the implants may wear down over time and need to be replaced.
